I'm looking for a good online tech community or site I can belong to and visit daily regarding computer security, Windows tips/tricks, the latest and greatest in technology...things like that. I need an online "home", some place that's "happening" if you know what I mean, or a cool IRC chat room where there's an actual conversation going on. I've tried:

experts-exchange - didn't like it

2600 - cool site, but didn't do it for me, plus they have no local meetings in my area

attrition - cool site, the layout is confusing for me

antionline - didn't do it for me

textamerica - a lot of people dropped off since its no longer free

happyhacker - chat doesn't work, didn't really like the site

java.net - it's not doing it for me

I'm not looking for some hacker site where everyone wants to hack some NSA computer..but not some site where the hot topic is "How to set up Zone Alarm". Help, where do you guys hang out? (no myspace, facebook, or orkut please)

I was sitting on the computer talking on aim, and playing on myspace, when suddenly i got this sad depressing feeling that swept over me like someone pouring hot water over my head. I could like, feel it come over my body. It really is terrible and i'm on the verge of tears for no apparent reason. by the way, i am not PMSing. That was done a week ago.

I feel like this too sometimes. I suggest you call up a friend (or a few friends) and go to the mall for the latest comedy and a shopping spree! Even if you don't feel like going out, that's just the depression talking. You need to get out! That's what the problem is. It's a different kind of home-sickness, when, instead of WANTING to be in your home, you are SICK of being home. Any way to get out of the house with your friends, and without your parents (unless you're like me and enjoy family nights), will make you feel so much better!

You would generally have the feeling of depression a lot more overwhelming after your level of activity suddenly drops. Say, you were out with your friends, or simply having a nice conversation, or got carried away while doing something, and then after some time when you've finished doing it you can suddenly feel very lonely, inert and upset.

Just because you drop out of this previous set of feelings that you've had not so long ago. I think you are a somewhat sensitive person, but you don't have to worry about those shifts. They are a normal thing. Just try to calm down and tell yourself that domorrow the sun will be shining high in the sky again. After all, life's great!

No one has shown you how thinking about a hope you had and knowing it was not possible in your life makes the brain erase the hope. The chemicals produced go to the lower brain in the same fluid. The medulla controls all your vitals and so triggers the depression feelings. Just get rid of the imbalanced chemicals and you are back to normal. Call me in the morning.

Helped my hot neighbor move in. Didn't see much of her since then. She obviously had a BF.

Fast forward two months. She finds ME on myspace and says hi it's your neighbor. So , we start messaging back and forth. Then IM. Anyways, anytime I talk with her it is mainily her talking about her stuff. She has NEVER asked me anything about me.

Its getting rather annoying. She normally will message me if she comes online. I sense I might be slipping to cuddlebitch terriotory.

I have noticed in a lot of my female friends myspace pages, aim profiles, etc. they always post this 'Perfect Guy' poem bs. It goes like 'the perfect guy would kiss you in front of his friends, pretend your the only girl he sees, tell you that your beautiful and not hot. Believe it or not in all of my female friends are so shallow and they get asked out by 20 different guys and say yes to the hottest one or one that is trying suck up to them. I am not saying all girls are shallow but ladies open your eyes more and stop posting this **** if you do and look in the places you would least expect. Looks will fade, your heart will last forever.

It sounds like they might be interested. But before you jump to the conclusion that they "like" you with the intention of dating you.. get to know them first. Once you get to know what they are like, you might have a change of mind.

I think you should definitly try to get to know them. "John" didn't even remember you, so I wouldn't say he is necessarily in to you. Now that you talked, he might be interested. I still stick by my advice to try to get to know both of them. If you have lunch with them say hi or if you can sit with them. Show up at lacrosse or football games, be involved. Even if nothing happens, you had fun and got to socialize with more people, right?

Be friends first, and if more comes from that.. then great! A friendship can help provide a good basis for a relationship.

Personally, I think I'm pretty and have a great personality. I'm funny and fun to be around and everyone loves me as a friend... but I feel like guys don't ever like me as more then a friend.

Sometimes I'm like "one of the guys" and I always joke around, I have a funny laugh that makes everyone crack up and I love to mess around and just have fun. I'm super outgoing and am really nice and caring to everyone. I make friends really easily and am pretty confident in the way I carry myself.

I'm a strong Christian and have very high morals. I've even made a promise to myself to save my first kiss for marriage which alot of people seem to respect. But thats not because I'm against it- it's just because I think it's a cool thing to do and it will make my first kiss super meaningful.

I've just always noticed that guys never seem to really like me, say I'm pretty or hot or anything. It makes me really self conscious and doubt myself.

1) are intimidated by you. What I mean by this is that some guys see an attractive girl and can't work up the nerve to ask due fear of rejection.

2) are put of by the fact you have strong christain morals and are looking for a girl they can "mess around" with.

3) see you as "one of the guys". That can be a subconcious turn off to guys who are looking for a girl who is a girlfriend and not a girl who IS a friend. but that's probably the least likely reason.

i have friends and i eat at lunch with them and i have a myspace and get comments and all that stuff and tons of pics. but i usually dont go to the movies on fridays and hang out with friends on the weekends. everyone else is like yah me and bblahblah went to a party on friday then the mall and to the beach. like some people brag about it even! like they r so cool. i just like to stay home and relax during the weekends and watch t.v. is this normal, it has to be? its not that i dont have friends because i do, i just can never get rides or its too much stress worrying about getting ready, wat to wear to the dance or mall or movies, and most of my friends arnt big parties. by the way im not popular just normal and i have normal firends. am i comparing myself to much to the popular, cool, rich, hot kids at my high school? when i see all their pictures on myspace with there 94983 friends smoking hookah im like gezz. it seems like everyday they go out and do "cool" stuff.

I am so in love with her and betrayed her trust. I know how you feel! Except mine actually meet a whore real close and slept with her... in my apartment! He told me I didn't trust him and that I should let him go hang out with her and her friends and give her step-dad a going away to Iraq party! Well I told him to be back by a certain time... and I left b/c my best friend called and said she needed me for a few hours! Well it ended up being the whole night... she cried over a stupid boy! Well when he finally came and got me (he had to take a shower and take her home... blah blah blah) So it took him 2 hours instead of 30 minutes! And then I found out he screwed her... was writing her through myspace... which is where he found her! (I mean she found him.. he was in a band and she "loved" it) He would hook up the web cam and do nasty crap! And while I was in the other room! I would always make out with him if I saw it was her! And she'd look pissed! Then when I came home one day she was here! I kicked her a$$ and then his! He told me he didn't love me anymore... and then she and me left him! B/c he was lying to both of us! But then her stupid a$$ came back! When I was there getting my stuff! So I kicked her A$$ again! She was really stupid! Then a few months later he called me crying and telling me he was so stupid... I had lost our baby b/c of him putting me through so much stuff! And he called when someone had finally told him! Crying and saying how stupid he was and that he wanted me back! Well I told him no... but I'd love to be his friend and hang out! A few months later he asked me to marry him and give him 5 wonderful children... I said no! He started crying and went into his room and didn't come back out! So I left! The next month he asked again! And then everyday after that until I finally thought He'd changed and really loved me! I'm best friends with his twin sisters and would talk to them and his parents (even though I hate his mom)... but never him! Recently, i have been questioning my boyfriends faithfulness. So i went on myspace and set up a fake account with a picture of a hot guy and everything, and messaged my boyfriend. He turned down my attempts, but later sent back a messaging asking to be friends. Then, when i went on his myspace account, he had deleted all traces of a conversation with this guy. Also, sometimes i will catch my boyfriend talking to other guys with the other guy talking about showers and drugs and stuff to my boyfriend, but when i question it, he says i have bad hearing and then tries to tell me they are saying something completely different, even tho i am very sure. I know my hearing can be bad sometimes, but i feel really sure of what i have heard both times. Are these signs that i could be with a cheater? Or am i just being overly cautious and stupid?

I pretty much live with my boyfriend... I stay at his house every night... he is majorly girl crazy. Ok well I go after guys who arent that bad looking but have low self esteem and dont keep up with all the "Styles" and "trends".. And arent considered "cool" at school. Because I want to make them feel like the luckiest guy in the world.Basically I ignore the hottiest and aim for the shy guys.

Well, I really really liked this guy brandon and I dont know I guess he found out I liked him, it went to his head or someting.. and he just changed A LOT within a month its crazy. I've been bouncing back and forth between bisexual and lesbian and sometimes, I'm like "Woahhh, she's HOT." Like physical attraction, you know? And there's this really hot girl and I decided to try to talk to her through myspace and while I waited for her reply, I started to get this bad feeling inside of me. It feels HARD, a hard rocky feeling (in my chest/kinda in my tummy). She finally commented back and my pictures too. I was like "Yess" but that feeling is there, hardcore.... It's not nervousness, really. I did feel it a little, but it's just something hard and stiff inside. Is that instinct and gut feeling? Anxiety? What is that feeling?? (Don't think wrong, it's immature.) I think boys are gross.

I think molestation has a HUGE impact on sexual identity. I, myself, was molested when I was a young boy by a man and I think it had a huge impact on my sexual identity. I identify myself as a heterosexual but have had moments of sexual desires with men (mostly attractions to the male anatomy).

Granted, I also believe that this may or may not be the case with anyone else and can only speak from my own perspective.

I've finally succumbed to the "it is what it is" mentality and accept that I'm a unique individual with unique desires and only I control what I want or don't want.

You have to be comfortable being who you are and find people willing to accept you as you.

Think of it this way... If being molested causes someone, male OR female, to become attracted to the sex opposite of the ones who raped them-- IE, girls raped by men become lesbians-- then males raped by males would be straight. The idea makes little to no sense.

And of course there's a difference between being sexually attracted to someone and in a relationship. I've been in several romantic relationships with the same sex, when I felt no desire to have sex with them. I am friends with all sexes and genders-- being friends is a relationship-- and I don't want to have sex with them. Sex and love do not go hand in hand for every occassion.

And that odd feeling is attraction. :P I felt it when I called my interest for the first time... and every time I anticipate a call or talking to him. Knowing that...

It is sour grapes. Your pysically attracted to women, but not emotionally attracted to them. The idea kind of sickens you, but your body betrays you. When you do something you think is really wrong you feel anxiety. Your chest feels tight and your stomach feels nauseas. There are a lot of things that turn me on, but only a few that I feel comfortable doing.

Hope this helps. You either have to learn to accept your attraction and overcome the stress or the easier route is to deny your self the physical attraction and just leave that as a longing that remains unfulfilled. However, you might actually date a guy and invite a female to participate so that it isn't just for you. Mob mentality will allow you to get past the anxiety that you feel. Its normal to feel attraction for different people. You might be predominately lesbian, but there are certain features in males that you are attracted to as well -- just a feature you don't find in as many men.

Its easy to be sexually attracted to someone and not want to date them and vise versa. We often look for features in someone that makes us sexual attracted and yet want completely different features in someone we date. Someone we just are attracted to usually has wonderful physical features that we like. Someone we want to date often has other features such as great personality, friendship appeal and similar interests.

Been together 5 months:

She TOLD me a guy who she knows on myspace asked her to the movies. She said no and he finally saw my comments on her page and her relationship status and asked if I am her bf. She said yes.

I comment on her myspace I love you and she doesn't comment back unless I ask her why she didn't comment back. She has no problem saying I love you in person.

We are out rollerblading and she sees this guy and falls back a little and GAWKS at him. I had to call her name to get her to snap out of it. She kept turning to look at him for the first 15 minutes there.

We where out and she was rubbing my arm in a flirty way and this other guy turned and looked at her (she is hot) and she suddenly let go. First time in 5 months this has happened.

Firstly, slow down.

Internet romances are very intense, particularly to begin with. You feel the connection, it's exciting, its new. However, nothing can compare to the connections made face to face, person to person. I can appreciate how you must feel logging onto the computer, seeing her messages. It makes you feel special, thought of, and important.

It has only been a week, and sometimes, even face to face, this early on, too much too soon can be a bad thing.

I used to have hair down to my waist. I let it grow for 8 years while I was in Los Angeles. I played drums in a metal band and I guess I just wanted the 'look.' Then I grew up and realized long hair was just impractical for a guy and I cut it.

It's much easier to get a job now for sure - as long as I wear long sleeves to hide my tattoos.

I've thought about letting it grow long again, but it just took too long and I hate the stages it has to go through...like when it's long, but not *quite* long enough to get into a ponytail...yuk.

Anyway, I'm 34 now and I think I've outgrown the long hair 'rocker' look.

Ok, me and this girl went out for a little while but we broke up because she had 'touch-phobia' and wasnt ready for a serious relationship. And i respected that and was ok wit it... Then a rumor came out that she only went wit me because her and her sister made a bet. let her have her little boyfriend, i had my first boyfriend when i was 14 and all we did was hold hands and kiss occasionally. Its all very innocent. I know you want to protect her and you should do this by explaining what sex is to her, what protection (condoms are), and why she shouldnt have sex until she is older. By informing her of these facts you are protecting her and helping her to be a woman.

Dont ban her from exploring boys, she will eventually, with or without your permission. Its very important to create boundaries like what time she should be home etc at this age, and its important to teach her about sex. Let her know that she can talk to you about her boyfriends etc, dont make her lie to you, because she will eventually. Teenagers are still children learning how to think and act in the adult world. Eventually, most of 'em will figure it out. A tragic few never will grow up. But for the most part, what teenagers need from us old farts is patience. I was a teenager once too, and yes, I was as air-headed as those you mentioned. I look back on myself at that point in life and wonder how the adults who had to put up with me managed to keep from boiling me in oil or something equally dramatic. I mean, I was such a pain in everyone's behind I still blush forty-three years later! So - be patient. They'll have to get their shite together soon enough...

because #1. He's only 16. Guys really don't start acting mature until their mid-twenties and even then they have issues. #2. It's easier to react to something you're reading online than in a face-to-face convo at school. Online, you can't hear his voice shaking because you make him nervous. It's easier #3. Guys have trouble with emotions. If he likes you, he's probably way embarrassed that some of his friends will find out or something, and he's expecting YOU to make a move because he's too shy. Shy? Yeah, he might not act shy, but right now he's afraid of facing his feelings because he's terrified of rejection. While it may be easier for him to flirt online, you have to be understanding and realize how hard it must be for him to admit that he likes you- especially in front of other people.
